Accreditations — Gas Safe Registered Heating Engineers in Bath

Anyone can put a van on the road and call themselves a heating engineer. Not everyone can legally touch your gas. This page sets out exactly what Bath Eco Heat is registered, trained and insured to do — with the numbers, so you can check every word of it yourself before you let us through the door.

We have deliberately kept this page to what we actually hold today. Where something is still in progress, we have said so. You will not find a wall of manufacturer logos we have not earned.

Gas Safe registered — number 622049

Bath Eco Heat is on the Gas Safe Register under registration number 622049.

The Gas Safe Register is the official list of engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas in the UK. It replaced CORGI back in 2009. If someone is not on it, it is against the law for them to install, service or repair your gas boiler — it is not a nice-to-have or a trade badge, it is the law.

Being on the register means an engineer has been assessed as competent, and is re-assessed every five years to stay on it. Each engineer carries an ID card with their photo, their licence number and an expiry date. The back of that card is the bit most people never look at, and it is the important bit: it lists exactly which gas work that engineer is qualified to carry out. Someone can be legitimately Gas Safe registered for cookers and not qualified for your boiler.

Ask to see the card. We will hand it over without being asked, but ask anyway — with us or with anyone else.

What we hold right now

 • Gas Safe Register — 622049. Natural gas boilers, heating systems and gas safety work. Verifiable on the Gas Safe Register website in about thirty seconds.
 • Public liability insurance. Cover in place on every job we do, in every property we work in.
 • Viessmann product training. Manufacturer training completed on Viessmann boilers — their systems, their commissioning process, the way they want them set up.
 • Building Regulations notification. As a registered installer we notify building control on every new boiler installation, and you get your Building Regulations Compliance Certificate. If that never arrives after an installation, something has gone wrong.

Manufacturer training and accreditation

This is the part of the trade where wording gets stretched, so here is ours, straight.

Viessmann — trained

We have completed Viessmann manufacturer training and Viessmann is the brand we fit most often. It is a well-built German boiler with a stainless steel heat exchanger, and we would rather fit a smaller range of boilers we know inside out than fit whatever is cheapest that week. Training is not the same thing as a formal accredited-installer scheme, so we are calling it what it is: trained.

Worcester Bosch — application in progress

Our Worcester Bosch accredited installer application is in progress. It is not approved yet, so we are not going to put their badge on our website or claim a status we do not hold. When it is approved, this section changes and the badge goes up — not before.

Everything else

We fit and work on the mainstream brands you would expect. Where we have not done a manufacturer’s training course, we say so rather than implying otherwise.

Heat pumps and MCS

Air source heat pump work is carried out under an MCS-certified umbrella scheme rather than our own standalone MCS certification.

Why that matters to you: the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant can only be applied for by an MCS-certified installer. Working through an MCS umbrella keeps that route open — the grant is applied for on your behalf and comes off the price, you do not pay it out and claim it back. If a heat pump is genuinely right for your property, we will tell you and explain exactly how the grant works on your job. If it is not right for your property, we will tell you that too. Have a look at our heat pumps page for the honest version.

Why any of this actually matters

It is easy to treat registrations as paperwork. They are not. Here is what they change on the day:

 • Your safety. Badly fitted gas work does not usually announce itself. Carbon monoxide has no smell. A flue terminated in the wrong place, or a boiler that has never been properly combustion-tested, is a problem you cannot see from the sofa.
 • Your warranty. Manufacturer warranties are conditional. A boiler installed by an unregistered fitter, or commissioned incorrectly, or never serviced, gives the manufacturer a straightforward reason to decline a claim in year four. The registration and the paperwork are what keep your warranty alive.
 • Correct commissioning. A new boiler is not finished when it fires up. Gas rate, flue gas analysis, system pressure, controls set up properly, benchmark checklist filled in and signed. Skipping that is how you end up with a brand-new boiler that short-cycles and eats gas.
 • Selling your house. The Building Regulations certificate for your boiler is one of the documents a buyer’s solicitor asks for. Missing it is a slow, annoying problem at exactly the wrong moment.

Check us before you book us

Do not take our word for any of this. Go to the Gas Safe Register website, put in 622049, and see for yourself. Do the same to any other company quoting you — it takes half a minute and it rules out the worst outcome entirely.

If you want the other side of the picture, our reviews page pulls together our real Google and Trustpilot reviews in one place, and our about page tells you who is actually turning up at your house.

Frequently asked questions

What does Gas Safe registered actually mean?

It means the engineer is on the official UK register of people legally allowed to work on gas. It replaced CORGI in 2009. Registration is not automatic — engineers are assessed as competent and re-assessed every five years. Our registration number is 622049 and you can check it on the Gas Safe Register website.

Can anyone install a boiler?

No. It is illegal for anyone who is not Gas Safe registered to install, service or repair a gas boiler in the UK. A general builder, a handyman or a plumber who is not on the register cannot legally do it, no matter how confident they sound about it. It also has to be notified to building control, which only a registered installer can do.

How can I check your registration?

Go to the Gas Safe Register website and search our number, 622049. You can also ask to see the engineer's ID card on the doorstep — check the photo, check the expiry date, and turn it over to see which gas work they are actually qualified for. We will show you ours without being asked.

Do I need an accredited installer to keep my boiler warranty valid?

For the standard manufacturer warranty, what matters is that the boiler is installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer, commissioned correctly, registered with the manufacturer, and serviced every year. Some manufacturers offer longer extended warranties through their own accredited installer schemes. We will always tell you honestly what warranty length you can get on the boiler we are quoting for, and we will not promise a warranty we cannot actually register. An annual boiler service is the condition people most often forget — and the one manufacturers most often lean on when declining a claim.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry public liability insurance and it is in place on every job. If you want to see the certificate before we start, just ask.
